Leonardo Call for Papers
Pioneers &
Pathbreakers
Pioneers and Pathbreakers
is a project of OLATS/The Leonardo Observatory for the Arts and the
Techno-Sciences and Leonardo/ISAST. Pioneers and Pathbreakers
involves various publications, activities and events. The aim of the
project is to establish reliable, selected, on-line documentation
about twentieth-century artists whose works and ideas are considered
seminal in the development of technological art.
Call for Papers
As part of Leonardo/ISAST's Pioneers and Pathbreakers project, we are
pleased to issue a call for papers dealing with the history of
developments in the arts, sciences and technology. We are interested
in topics including the following:
Memoirs by pioneer
artists using new media (holography, computer and electronic arts,
telecommunication arts, interactive arts, new materials, space arts,
etc.). Texts must be written by the artist, in English, and cover an
extended body of work. Length may be up to 5,000 words with 12
illustrations. Preference will be given to artists describing early
work carried out prior to 1980. Readers of Leonardo are asked to
encourage their colleagues to submit such memoirs, which will be
invaluable primary documents for historians and scholars in the
future.
Texts by art historians
and other scholars examining the interaction between the contemporary
arts and science or technology in the work of individuals or groups
of artists. Students are encouraged to contact us with proposals to
publish portions of their theses.
Theoretical and other
analytical texts addressing current developments in art/technology
within the context of earlier movements in this and prior centuries.
Interested authors should submit manuscript proposals or completed manuscripts to the Leonardo Editorial Office
See the Leonardo Editorial
Guidelines for more information on submitting manuscripts to
Leonardo.
